8月5日は朝8時台の新幹線で名古屋へ
会食をさせていただいた名古屋市の要人と
セミについて話をした。

自分に置き換えてみると、身がすくむ以外何もない。
一番最適な年齢
我が家の子供たちは、自分で十分歩けるようになったと
判断されると父親の仕事場に連れて行かれる。
親と同じスピードで歩くわけにはいかないが、自分の飲み物を
背負って自分の足で歩く。
大人でもちょっと不節制の人はきつく感じるジャングルを歩くのだが、
彼らはやはりエネルギーの塊だ。休憩地点では疲れも忘れて水遊びをする。
ヒルやトカゲ、蛇などに遭遇し目を丸くするが怖がらない。
帰りの車の中ではどんなに揺すっても目が覚めないくらい熟睡である。
買い物に連れて行くと、めんどくさいとぐずぐず言う
彼らが、ジャングルでは泣き言を言わずに必死についてくるから不思議だし、嬉しい。
4歳で往復3時間（休憩時間を除く）、やっぱり気の毒なのか…
生物のパラダイスはどこにある？

2月9日の英字紙The Starの一面の見出しがこれだ。
英語はシンプルで『Missing receptionist rescued』
ちょっと長いが引用してみよう。
KUALA LUMPUR: A 26-year-old hotel receptionist, who went missing while hiking on Bukit Kemensah, Hulu Kelang on Saturday, has been rescued. Nor Aishah Rahman from Kampung Kerin- chi, who organised a picnic for a hiking group that included family members and friends, went missing for nearly 24 hours.Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Jalil Hassan said General Operations Force personnel, police dogs and surveillance helicopter located her near a river at 12.25pm. Safe and sound: Nor Aishah walking down Bukit Kemensah with rescuers after she was located near a river at 12.25pm Sunday. “She is still shaken by the experience and has suffered minor injuries,” he said.ACP Abdul Jalil said Nor Aishah had been up the same hill several times before but because she went in alone she took a wrong turn and lost her way.“She did not bring a bagpack or food as she was confident of finding her way out. She told us that she survived in the jungle by drinking water from a stream.“She also told us that most of the time she slept under the shady tree where the rescuers found her.” Nor Aishah’s ordeal occurred on Saturday when 17 people, including family members and friends, went up the hill near Zoo Negara at 9am where they planned to have a picnic after a 45-minute hike. She told the group to go ahead and that she would catch up with them as she had to suddenly attend a meeting at the hotel in Jalan Bukit Bintang where she worked. She said she would join them at 2.30pm. However, at 5pm, when Nor Aishah did not show up at the picnic spot, the group mounted a search for her.As the day grew darker, they decided that it was too risky and came down the hill. The group then lodged a missing person’s report at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters. ACP Abdul Jalil advised hikers not to go alone but in groups.
クアラルンプールの国立動物園のすぐ裏手にある丘（徒歩で45分ほどの距離）で
家族や友人たちとのピクニックを企画した女性が急に開催されることになったホテルでの
会議に出席するためグループを離れて道に迷った、というだけのことなのだが
ヘリコプターも出動し、捜索犬も導入されるなどかなりな大騒ぎとなった。
この女性この場所には何度も来ていて、道に迷わない自信があったらしい。
また、45分程度の場所なので一人で下る際にチョコレート一枚持っていなかった
（水も持っていなかった）というあたりがもうなめていますね。
発見された場所の近くの木の下で寝ていた、というあたりは悪くない判断だけれども
やっぱりジャングル（ってほどじゃないけど）をなめてはいけないということです。
私も初心に帰って準備しよう。
光るもの
今更という感じだがボストン大学名誉教授、下村脩氏（８０）が
2008年のノーベル化学賞を受賞した。
受賞理由は「蛍光タンパク質ＧＦＰの発見と開発」。下村氏が発見したオワンクラゲの蛍光タンパク質「ＧＦＰ」は、生きた体の中で特定のタンパク質だけを光らせる標識（タグ）として実用化され、生命科学に画期的な進展をもたらした。（産経ニュース）
そうしてみると世の中には意外に光る生き物が多い。
誰が最初に始めるのか？
生き物には変わった行動をとるものが多く
いったい誰が最初に始めるのだろう、と思ってしまうのだが
今回の話も相当不思議な行動だ。
それはシロアリの仕事についてだ。

以前のエントリーで私の若かりしころの写真（涙）を
掲載したところ、最近知り合った人達から驚きのメールが届いた。
「ほんとに痩せてたんですね〜(笑）」というものがほとんどだったが
中に一通非常にいいところに気がついてくれたメールがあった。
「シダの群生している斜面を登り降りするのって大変ですよね？
やっぱりジャングル慣れしているんですね！」
